Bob the duck is six years old and lives happily with his
family and fluffy friends on Bibbly Farm in Dorset . He loves
to play, making him a great big brother to his one-year-old twin
siblings, Emma and Adam.
One day, Bob was wandering past the Old
Barn when he heard someone crying. He peeped in, only to see
his best friend Dave holding, what looked like, an envelope.
“What’s
wrong Dave?” Bob
asked gently.
“It’s my dad. I can’t give him his birthday
card because he’s helping Farmer Green
in Daisy Field all
day, and it’s too far to walk there”, Dave replied,
holding out the large brown envelope.
“That’s awful,
there must be something I can do”,
said Bob. But before Dave could reply, Bob was off, taking the
envelope with him. He leaped, flapped and bounded in the direction
of Daisy Field, for what must have been hours, up and down hills,
through long grasses and over rocks. Finally, he reached the
edge of Daisy Field where he flopped onto the soft grass gasping.
When Bob eventually got up, he was feeling dizzy but soon felt
better when he spotted Dave’s dad. He knew it was him because
he’s got rare grey feathers, just like Dave.
“Bob!
What are you doing here, what’s that you’ve
got?” he exclaimed when he spotted Bob.
Bob handed over
Dave’s handmade card and said, “Dave really wanted
you to have this on your birthday”.
Dave’s dad took the envelope and opened it. He was speechless,
but the look in his little black eyes said it all… he
was over the moon!
When they all arrived back at the farm, Dave
was asleep and Bob was so tired after his exhausting day, that
he too fell asleep the moment he closed his eyes.
Ever since
that day Bob was remembered for being the bearer of news and
special messages. So when you want to make your greeting extra
special and full of affection, let Bob help as he will never
let you down. |
